Fall 2013 Langford Seminar

Previous Fall Langford Seminars have been themed, as are most conferences. However, the Fall 2013 Langford Seminar, "Unusual Angles," chaired by Ruurd Nauta (Groningen), is experimental it that it will present four original contributions by invited speakers from Europe and America in varied fields: Pindaric Studies, Callimachus, Ancient Satire, and Apuleius. The speakers and their titles are: Nigel Nicholson (Reed College), "Epinician vs. Oral Tradition: Pindar’s Olympian 10 and the 'Hero of Temesa'"; Annemarie Ambühl (Leiden), "Literary Love triangles: Berenice at Alexandria and Rome"; Alberto Canobbio (Pavia), "Lucilius and Horace: from Criticism to Identification"; and Alexander Kirichenko (Trier), "Self-Referentiality and Meaning in Apuleius’ Metamorphoses."
